Why most Brisbane TV installs go wrong on Saturday
Every weekend we get two or three calls that start the same way: “I tried it myself, something gave way, can you come fix it?” The TV is usually a 65-inch or bigger, the wall is usually brick or old hardwood-framed plasterboard, and the anchor that failed is usually the same generic plastic plug you find in a 100-pack at the big-box store.
That’s not a tools problem — it’s a spec problem. The anchor has to match the wall, the wall has to match the bracket rating, and the bracket has to match the TV’s real-world weight (not its advertised weight, which in our experience is optimistic about 15% of the time). We’ve been doing this in Brisbane for over a decade and our job has always been less about “hanging a TV” and more about getting those three numbers to match.
What a Brisbane TVs install actually looks like
Pre-install check. We confirm the TV’s VESA pattern and weight, photograph the wall, identify the stud locations or brick course, and flag any powerpoint/aerial issues before we show up. Nothing kills a Saturday faster than arriving with the wrong bracket.
On the day. Two installers, 60–120 minutes depending on complexity. We mount with a digital level (not a bubble level, which is off by up to 1° on a warped drywall), run cables in-wall if you’ve asked for it, and test the TV end-to-end — including the soundbar pair, the app login, and the remote programming.
Handover. We leave behind a before/after photo pack, the bracket’s written warranty, and our direct number for the 12-month workmanship window. If the bracket ever needs to come down (for painting, house sale, whatever) we’ll come out and do it for the cost of the anchor repair kit.
Wall types we install on every week
Brisbane’s housing stock is unusually varied for a single city. Here’s what we see most often, and what changes per wall type:
Plasterboard over timber stud (most 1980s+ builds). Easy-to-medium. We toggle into the stud if it’s in the right spot, otherwise we use engineered plasterboard anchors rated well above the TV weight.
Double-brick (most inner-suburb queenslanders and pre-war builds). Medium difficulty. Masonry-rated anchors into the brick face, never the mortar joint. Diamond bits to prevent face-spalling.
Fibro / asbestos-containing walls (plenty of Brisbane’s older fibro cottages). We assess, and on confirmed asbestos sheets we’ll either recommend a licensed removalist or fit a free-standing stand instead of drilling. Your safety wins every time.
Rendered concrete. Harder than it looks. We hammer-drill through the render into the substrate and use a chemical anchor for anything above 40 kg.
Pricing in 2026, without surprises
We’re one of the few Brisbane installers still operating on a flat-rate model. The quote you get is the price you pay — we don’t charge per hour, per bracket hole, per cable run, or for “difficult access” unless we’ve flagged it upfront. If the job runs long, that’s our problem.
Standard flat rates (as of 2026):
- Up to 55”, plasterboard, bracket supplied by you → $189
- Up to 65”, plasterboard, with 1m cable concealment → $249
- 65–75”, brick or concrete, bracket supplied by us → $349
- 75”+ or multi-screen display wall → $449
Add-ons like soundbar wall-mounting, extra power points, or aerial/satellite work are quoted line-by-line. Every quote is written, not verbal.
Warranty
12-month workmanship warranty on bracket installation and cable concealment. Bracket hardware covered by manufacturer warranty (typically 5–10 years).
Frequently asked questions
How much does TV wall mounting cost in Brisbane in 2026?
Our flat-rate jobs start at $189 for a straightforward plasterboard install up to 55 inches, and scale to $449 for brick walls, oversized TVs (75"+), or jobs requiring in-wall cable concealment. All quotes are flat-rate — you pay what we quote, even if the job runs long.
Can you mount a TV on a brick wall?
Yes, and brick is one of our most common walls in inner-Brisbane suburbs like Paddington, Bardon, and West End. We use masonry-rated expansion anchors, drill into the brick face (not the mortar joint), and carry a colour-matched filler kit to tidy the hole if the bracket ever comes down.
Do you handle in-wall cable concealment?
Yes. We run HDMI and power in a proper in-wall rated sleeve and terminate at a recessed pass-through plate. Jobs are done to AS/NZS 3000 and we hand over before-and-after photos.
How quickly can you come out?
Most Brisbane bookings are filled within 3–5 business days. We keep one emergency slot open each weekday for last-minute bookings — call before 10am to see if it's still available.
What if my TV doesn't fit the bracket?
We confirm your TV's VESA pattern and weight before we book. If there's any concern we'll recommend a bracket upgrade at our trade price — never marked up.
